Would he dare?

Most of the Libs out there are "Poo-pooing" the whole uproar that Conservatives have over David Letterman's Comments on the David Letterman Show. In case you've not heard about it, his comment regarding Sarah Palin was that, as she was attending New York City as she was being honored by a Special Needs Group, Letterman stated that she had the style of a "slutty flight attendant." He further sunk by stating "One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez." Now, the problem here is that, Bristol was the Palin daughter who became pregnant by her boyfriend. The daughter that attended the honoring by the Special Needs Group was Willow Palin, 14 years old. Conservatives, and people with a normal sense of ethics, call this rather in poor taste, perhaps even disgusting.
Now, I understand that Letterman makes fun of people in the news all the time. And, Bristol was pregnant and unmarried by her boyfriend. However, there's a difference between that and suggsting a 14 year old was knocked up by A-Rod. That would infer Statuatory Rape, and I really can't imagine that A-Rod is ok with that joke either. He's got enough problems of his own right now. I realize that Letterman has a team of joke writers, and it's unlikey he writes his own jokes. However, perhaps he needs to get a clue and approve them first. Is Bristol fair game given that she was unmarried and pregnant? Well, she's the daughter of a political figure, and, in the news. So, that pretty much makes her fair game. However, Willow, whom has not ever been pregnant, and is 14, is not fair game. Very poor taste Mr. Letterman. Very poor taste. He has a history of making jokes in poor taste, and I can take a joke, but clearly, some just cross the line. He once made a joke regarding a memorial for a flight that blew up, and everyone died, just off the East Coast. The memorial was of what appeared to be people reaching up to the sky, and quite distraught. The joke was that it was a memorial dedicated to NY Jets fans. The next night, after discovering what it really was, he apologized. It was beyond poor taste. It was moronically stupid. Now, Willow and Sarah Palin did not even get an apology. He invited them on his show, he stated it was in poor taste and also stated "Am I guilty of poor taste? Yes. Did I suggest that it was ok for a 14 year old daughter to be having promiscuous sex? No."
But, that's the question. Was he saying it was ok? I don't think he was, but, he spoke it like it'd actually happened because he thought it was Bristol. Given that she was 18, he seemed to be suggesting that, oh well, she got knocked up, cause she's don that before. So, the context of what he said seems to have mysteriously changed since he found out it was 14 year old Willow. Funny how 4 years younger changes what you really meant, huh Dave? And, he didn't apologize. Not once did he say he was sorry. Not once. I defy any Lib from showing me where he says "I'm sorry". You know why? Cause it's not there. It's being excused because of two reasons. Letterman's Liberal, and Palin's Consevative.
Oh no you say?! Great, let's put it in this context. If it had been Hillary and Chelsea instead. Exact same scenario. Chelsea was 14 and Letterman had said that about her, thinking it was an older daughter, would all be forgiven? Hmm? And Letterman was Conservative? Hmmm? No. So, once again, double standard. I will not be watching Letterman again, and I will contact those that advertise on his show, and will let them know, I will not purchase their products because of his lack of an apology. Too far, you say? If the show were on the other foot, you'd think different. And where is the National Organization of Women on this? Why have they not come out to defend Sarah Palin, and Willow, or Bristol for that matter? If it had been said about a Leberal and her daughter, and Letterman was Conservative, there would be calls for his show to be ripped from the airwaves. I truly believe that NOW needs to vhange their name to NOLW, the National Organization of Liberal Women. Because that's who they defend. And Letterman, you were out of line. You'd never repeat that joke about a Liberal's 14 year old daughter. I'll be watching Conan from now on.
