Unions and Democrats. The wrong choices.

Recently, the Michigan State Legislature has passed a "Right To Work" law.  This means that you have a "right to work" without being FORCED to pay union dues.  Period.  If you don't want to join the union, you don't have to.  It's up to you, it's YOUR choice.  After all, Democrats are all about "pro-choice" right?  They are, of course, until you decide that you don't choose what they DEMAND you choose.  In terms of abortion, they're all about Pro-Choice, until you choose life.  As for unions, they're all about choice, unless you choose not to join a union.  Then, it's blasphemy!

What's wrong with having the right to make your own choice when it comes to joining a union?  I personally can't stand unions.  I think they're a bunch of rable rousers that serve no purpose other than to stir up trouble and hold a business hostage.  Many of our Federal and State laws protect employees.  They don't govern things such as your benefits or your pay.  They're not meant to.  They ensure you have a safe working environment, and that the employer treats you in a fair and legal manner.  Period.  So, from this perspective, unions are pointless.  They're a complete waste of time, and employees' money.

Now, from the persepctive of the unions, their intent is to force an employer to pay the worker top dollar and the best benefits around.  And if that means that it makes it difficult for the business to stay in business, well, tough luck, you'd better do what we say or we'll strike and make threats!  Recently, we saw Hostess go out of business due to union demands.  Now, some will bitch about the upper management people getting bonuses of a hefty sum when the company wasn't doing well.  Is that right?  No.  Is it legal?  Yes.  They have the right to run their company their way.  Further, something Libs like to leave out, is that the bonuses were part of the compensation package for the executives for meeting particular standards or goals.  For example, if they had opened up new markets, or reached a particular level of sales in a particular quarter or some other such thing.  So, that was going to happen no matter what.  The union stepped in and made some strong demands of the company, that they couldn't do as they were on the verge of bankrupcy.  But, unions being the corrupt thugs they are, decided "screw you, we're demanding it anyway or we'll go on strike".  So, the company filed for bankrupcy and now, 18,500 union members find themselves out of work.  Not too long afterwards, and not too surprisingly, the unions then decided they wanted to re-negioate those demands.  But bummer, too late.  Bankrupcy had been filed.  So, all those proud union members, wonder how they feel about their union now?  The union, in all their arrogance, and thinking the economy was SO good that the company would just HAVE to bow down to their demands, made their demands anyway.  News flash!  The economy sucks, and you just re-elected the president responsible for it.  The second he started putting in for his spending (oh, I mean STIMULUS) bill, and it failed, he OWNED the economy.  How stupid is a union that they make demands in a lousy enconomy thinking they can just walk in and get whatever they want?  There's a lot of folks out there that want to work.  So, the union members can all lose their jobs and other people who want to work, can replace them.

So, we again look at Michigan.  What's the real motive here?  Simple.  We're talking about money.  The union wants the money.  Because, the money fuels Democratic Politics.  The unions don't care about their members.  They care about the money their members are FORCED to pay.  If they were really for the betterment of all workers, why would they be so pissed about the people who don't pay dues?  Does anyone have any idea how much money Unions receive as a result of union dues?  The millions of dollars each year?  And they talk about the greed of the corporations and factories.  Yet, are they not the same as the unions?  The unions seem pretty greedy about the union dues, particularly if you have a "right to work" state and workers have the choice to join a union or not.  In some states, they've tried to pass an "open ballot" such that your vote to have a union or not is open to people.  It's no longer secretive.  That's BS.  Because what happens is the unions go to the homes of people who voted against the union, and they essentially harrass them and, I would say, terrorize them.  So, in this way, I would equate unions with terrorism.

This is certainly the case today in Lansing, Michigan.  There were mass protests.  Teachers calling in sick and at least two school districts closing down because the teachers were all at the rally in Lansing.  This is BS.  Those teachers are paid to be at school, not at a rally.  Teachers are generally the first to say "it's all about the kids".  But, that can't be said here.  Because, it's all about them (the teachers).  They apparently want to have people FORCED to have to pay union dues.  Doesn't matter if you want to or not, "we're going to FORCE you too!"  Again, so much for Pro-Choice, huh?  If all these teachers (in this case) are so Hell-Bent on everyone paying union dues, I would imagine that the teachers who pay dues would be MORE than willing to pay additional dues to make up for those that don't want to.

And really, unions are not necessary, for teachers.  There is state and federal law to protect them.  Salary and benefits can be negoiated without the benefit of a union.  Assuming each teacher is registered to vote, they can certainly lobby their congress person in the state legislature for increased salary or benefits.  "Oh, but that's not a guarantee" the unions cry.  Well, it's not a guarantee when you have a union either.  You can go on strike, sure, fine.  But at some point, you can only use so much sick leave.  Eventually, that'll run out, and, you'll simply have to work without pay.  Not to mention, again, you're shirking your responsibility.

Now, the raving maniacs of the unions protesting was in full view on Tuesday 12/11/12.  Many protestors stormed some of the vendors selling drinks there.  One guy's tent was "up-ended" and they stole his cans of soda and started handing them out all over to everyone.  That's theft.  Much like the theft of the unions stealing their members' money in the form of union dues each money, whether you want to pay it or not.  Not only this, but, many of the people who disagreed with the unions, were assualted.  Some had teeth broken.  So once again, these are UNION THUGS.  They're violent, they assualtive and they appaerntly steal from fellow workers in the form of the guy selling cans of soda.

Finally, we have a Democratic Congressman in the Michigan House of Representatives who stated, regarding this law passing, "There will be blood.  There will be consequences."  Well, I interpreted this as a threat.  It seems to me that Representative Douglas Geiss was making a threat to people who were for this law and supported it.  Make no mistake, if a Conservative had made this statement, there would be screams of "resign!"  But, Democrats having a Double Standard, this is all apparently ok.  It's ok to make threats if you're a Lib.  But if you're a Conservative, "throw the book at them" and compare them to Nazis, to Hitler, paint their character as bad as possible.  Incidentally, if you would like to contact Representative Geiss about his threatening comments, you're free to do so at his e-mail address below.  If you're a Lib and you feel like it's ok to make threats to people against your position, then by all means, lend him your support.  If you're thinking that it's not right to threaten people at all, then by all means, tell him so.  I have.
