Enemies of Christmas this year....
Well, as seems to have happened the last few years, there is a "war on Christmas". By this, I mean, some stores seem to have officially declared "war on Christmas" and refused to call say "Merry Christmas" in their advertising or in their stores. Instead, they would prefer ot say "Happy Holidays". Why? They say that it's because there are "so many holidays during this time of year" and all should be celebrated. None should be left out. Well gee, it's been Merry Christmas for quite some decades now.
However, some stores, while they refuse to say "Merry Christmas" this Christmas season, they are more than happy to take your dollars this Christmas for their profits. One of these stores, Best Buy, is just such a store. They don't want to say "Merry Christmas" in their advertising, or in their stores. Whether or not their employees will be saying "Merry Christmas" or Happy Holidays is not clear. I'm sure that they are told that they must say "Happy Holidays" so as "not to offend anyone", except of course, those that prefer to say "Merry Christmas".
So, what will you say this Christmas? Will you say "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas"? Is this a big deal to you, or not? I don't think there is a thing wrong with saying Merry Christmas, and, I've yet to hear how "Merry Christmas" will offend someone. Ok, there are, I'm sure, multiple holidays during the Christmas Season, however, how does saying "Merry Christmas" offend them? It's not putting them down, it's not telling them that their holiday isn't any good. Do people buy "Holiday Trees" or "Christmas Trees"?
In any case, Best Buy will not be saying "Merry Christmas" this year. So, I will not be buying anything from Best Buy this year. Nor, will I ever again until they once again say "Merry Christmas". I would encourage you to do the same, however, the choice is quite clearly yours. I guess it really depends on how you feel about this issue. I will not support a business that seemingly declares war on Christmas, but yet, wants the money I would spend at Christmas time. No problem, you're not gettin' any of my money! I am including below the contact information for the CEO of Best Buy so that you may contact him, if you wish, regarding this issue. I urge you to write him urging him to allow "Merry Christmas" in their stores this Christmas. However, if you support what he's doing, you have that right to support him in that, as well. However you feel, I urge you to write him and make your voice heard. Please also forward this information to anyone you feel would be interested in it.
